LeatherLuxe Pouch & Packaging
WHOOP Inc.    Launched in 2025
Role:
Sole designer for the packaging & pouch. Band designed by Ke'Don Franklin. First project at WHOOP.
While the leather band is our most premium and dress-oriented offering, it is not intended for 24/7 wear due to leather’s limitations in athletic use. This project set out to create a temporary storage solution that protects the band when not in use.

Inspired by Apple’s microfiber polishing cloth, I proposed a microfiber suede pouch that functions as both packaging and a reusable accessory—allowing the band to be wrapped, cleaned, and stored. Integrating the pouch into the packaging system also eliminated the need for multiple paperfoam molds across this lower-volume, multi-SKU product. The pouch is constructed by first heat-pressing two layers of microfiber with adhesive, creating a debossed perimeter that fuses the layers and gives the otherwise soft material a semi-rigid structure. The pocket is folded and bonded to the base using the same process. The assembly is then transferred to a separate machine, where two pill-shaped indents are electrically pressed through both the pocket and base layer—an on-site discovery that effectively welds four layers of microfiber together. This welded construction is exceptionally strong that the pocket layer can not be torn off the base layer without damaging the microfiber itself. The pill-shaped indents also tuck in the band during transport and storage, while reinforcing the pocket’s attachment to the base layer. The pouch is stored in rigid board paper box with a subtle W logo spot UV, and is sealed with a tear strip on the underside of the box.
